North Country Dental Recognized as Modern Dentistry Leader

Gorham – North Country Dental has been recognized by Sirona, the manufacturer of CEREC, for their effort to advance modern dentistry and make high-tech dentistry available to local communities through the use of CEREC. CEREC is a computerized, single-visit, porcelain tooth restoration system pioneered in the North Country by Dr. Paul Schoenbeck. Dr. Schoenbeck and North Country Dental are featured on Sirona’s website as the “CEREC Office of the Month” for December.

Dental professionals everywhere are lauding CEREC as ‘the process that miraculously combines cutting-edge technology with precision craftsmanship.‘ It cuts the time for crowns and other tooth restorations down from multiple visits to one office visit and eliminates cumbersome, uncomfortable and often problematic processes such as temporaries and impressions.

Though widely known, CEREC is still a rare system available in only a few areas of the country. Most of the technologically advanced machines are located in major cities due to the high cost of installing the system. Most smaller or more rural communities never get the chance to benefit from one. North Country Dental has doubled that chance for the communities of Western Maine, New Hampshire’s White Mountains, and the rest of the surrounding North Country with the addition in May 2005 of a second CEREC unit at their Gorham New Hampshire office.

Dr. Schoenbeck brought the first CEREC to Gorham in 2002. His is the only dental office in northern New Hampshire to now have two units. To put the addition of a second CEREC unit into perspective, consider this: there are over 170,000 dentists nationally and approximately 5,000 CEREC units in use. There are over 800 dentists in New Hampshire but only 16 CERECs among them. Two of these sixteen units belong to North Country Dental.

Dr. Schoenbeck, the recognized leader in CEREC, is a familiar face in the CEREC lecture circuit. He was asked recently by Sirona to address the West Virginia University Dental School students and faculty. He has also given lectures for Patterson Dental Supply to dentists learning about this technology. “I started my CEREC lectures two years ago at a “Generation Next” meeting in Marco Island, Florida. It blossomed from there to the Maine Dental Society, the North Country Dental Society (part of New Hampshire Dental Society), Boston, Foxwoods, and Portland, Maine.” Dr. Schoenbeck also organized a meeting in March, 2004 at Sunday River, Maine as a continuing education opportunity for local dentists. The meeting was so well received, it is being sponsored again this year by dental manufacturers and suppliers. “I believe strongly in the education process for professionals and for our patients. The world of dentistry is constantly growing and changing. CEREC is one of the most advanced technologies in the dental arena, one that really benefits patients. I saw a need to share these advances and other technical dental information at a local level to keep the communities’ dental care providers competitive and up to date.”

2006 celebrates the 20th Anniversary of CEREC. February is National CEREC Month. To learn more about CEREC, visit www.northcountrydental.com and www.cereconline.com.
